A handful of suspects were in custody following a pursuit in a stolen Kia that went from South L.A. to Hawthorne.

The pursuit began Wednesday afternoon along the southbound 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies picked it up in Wilmington as the Kia made its way from surface streets back onto the northbound 110 Freeway.

The driver continued to drive recklessly, speeding and weaving through traffic.

Sheriffs backed off and followed the Kia along the 110 Freeway and onto the northbound 405 until it exited near LAX .

Around 12:54 pm, the Kia moved onto surface streets, speeding into the Hawthorne area.

Five suspects jumped out of the car and fled through on foot at W. 129th Street and Jefferson Avenue.

All the suspects entered a building on a residential street in the area. Deputies along with Hawthorne police surrounded the location.

The Sheriff's Department said the suspects, all juveniles, were eventually detained around 2:00 pm.

Once in custody, two were released to their parents at the scene. The others were taken to the precinct until their parents picked them up.

    No other details immediately available.
