    Man suffers from fatal gunshot wound, Hayward PD investigates

    ( KRON ) – The Hayward Police Department is investigating the city's seventh homicide of the year. An 18-year-old man suffered a fatal gunshot wound on Saturday.

    At 10:31 a.m., Hayward police officers responded to the intersection of Pompano Avenue and Sumatra Street for the report of a shooting. Responding officers found evidence of a shooting before receiving a report of a shooting and collision near the 27000 block of Havana Avenue.

    Upon arrival, Hayward police officers located an 18-year-old Hayward resident, suffering from gunshot wounds in the driver's seat of a vehicle that appeared to have crashed into a parked car following a shooting. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

    The victim's identity is being withheld at the time, Hayward PD said.

    There have not been any arrests for the shooting. According to Hayward police, this case is ongoing.
