MANITOWOC – The Haven men’s homeless shelter named Alex Hunt as its new executive director.

Hunt previously served as programming manager at Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Manitowoc. He’ll take that experience to guide the nonprofit’s operations, supervise staff and raise awareness of homelessness issues in Manitowoc County.

He takes over for Michael Etheridge , who took a new position in Madison with an affordable housing nonprofit.

The Haven opened in 2014 and provides homeless men with case management, resource referrals and skills groups. The Haven's website states its mission is to "advocate for homeless men while providing community resources and a holistic approach towards self-sufficiency."

It has served nearly 500 men in the past decade.
