    Sarasota, Manatee voters head to polls in August primary, more than 100,000 voted early

    Sarasota and Manatee counties will hold primary elections on Tuesday in dozens of voting locations across the area.

    More than 100,000 voters have already mailed in their ballots or cast them during the early voting period that ended last weekend, according to the Supervisor of Elections offices.

    In Sarasota County 52,012 mail-in votes have been received out of about 93,017 ballots mailed to voters. The early voting period saw 14,330 voters vote early, according to a news release Monday from Sarasota Supervisor of Elections Ron Tuner.

    In Manatee Count y 43,090 ballots had been received by Manatee's Supervisor of Elections James Satcher, representing about 15.7% of eligible voters, according to the office's website on Monday morning. Of those ballots, 31,476 of voters mailed in their ballots while 11,615 voters cast their ballot early.

    There are 326,826 eligible voters in Sarasota County as of July 22, the last day to be eligible to vote in the August primary. In Manatee County, there are 274,383 eligible voters, according to the Supervisor of Election's website.

    Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. in both Sarasota and Manatee counties. Voters must vote at their assigned precincts on Elections Day.

    Precinct information can also be found on the back of a voter registration card. All voters will be required to show valid photo identification before receiving a ballot.

    Due to Tropical Storm Debby, three Sarasota County polling locations have been moved.

    Sarasota voters in Precinct 535 will vote in the Jacaranda Library, 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. Voters in Precinct 203 will vote at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail. Voters in Precinct 215 have been temporarily relocated to First Presbyterian Church, 2050 Oak St.

    Several races will be open to all voters, including the nonpartisan school board elections on the August primary ballot.
