Omaha man accused in fatal rollover crash pleads ‘no contest’
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A case for an Omaha man accused in a deadly crash near the Interstate 80-480 interchange in April has now moved to district court. David Kauai, 35, was initially charged in Douglas County Court with motor vehicle homicide by way of willful reckless driving and fleeing to avoid arrest; with a bond set at $500,000. He pleaded “no contest” on Thursday to motor vehicle homicide and with the operation of a motor vehicle to avoid arrest resulting in death.
Creighton's Maly preparing for another summer of 3-on-3 USA basketball success
OMAHA - Not only did Morgan Maly spend last offseason globetrotting, the Creighton senior was thriving on Team USA's 3-on-3 team. And she'll back on that stage this week. Maly is one of six players on the U.S. team that will compete at the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference in Mexico City. The tournament begins Monday and runs through Sunday.

Woman loses nearly $2,000 in Lincoln Police sergeant impersonation scam
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A woman lost nearly $2,000 on Saturday after she gave money to a scammer pretending to be a sergeant with the Lincoln Police Department. A 75-year-old woman reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be “Sgt. Randy Clark” with LPD. The caller told her she had a warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in court and needed to pay $2,400 to avoid jail.

Extradition hearing held in Custer County Court
Kindra Hauser Potter, age 32 of Broken Bow, appeared in Custer County Court on Monday, July 22nd. The State of Missouri had issued an arrest warrant for Hauser Potter on felony forgery charges and she was in court for the extradition request. The defendant, appearing with Chris Wickham, her court-appointed attorney, voluntarily agreed to the extradition that will occur within ten days. Hauser Potter also faces nine counts of felony forgery charges in Custer County that occurred in 2020 and she will appear back in Custer County Court on those charges at a future date.
