A workshop on earthquake preparedness is set for next month in Monrovia, city officials announced Friday.

The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group and the Monrovia Fire Department are hosting for the fifth time a workshop that will inform residents on how to prepare for a devastating earthquake, according to the city’s announcement. The workshop — Sept. 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Monrovia Library Community Room, 321 S. Myrtle Ave. — will “provide residents with concrete ways in which to better ready their families in the event of a serious disaster.”

Margaret Vinci from the California Institute of Technology is scheduled to be the event’s guest speaker.

The workshop is free, and a maximum of 60 attendees must register in advance. Free light refreshments and drinks will be available.

To RSVP online, go to mohpg.org.
