Hickory Regional Airport – Burke County, North Carolina
Charting an aviation path with the headwinds behind them. The Hickory Regional Airport is a general aviation airport nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in west/central North Carolina, about three miles west of the City of Hickory. It first opened in 1940 with two unpaved runways, began its first scheduled air carrier service in 1941, and served as a pilot training center for the military during World War II. Over the years it has hosted several commercial airlines, including Capital Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, CCAir, and Delta, the last of which ceased operations at Hickory in 2005.

The Hickory Metro Convention Center's main roadway entrance has a new name honoring a local couple that has pioneered the way for Hickory, Catawba County, and the Metro's hospitality and tourism industry. Lynn Lail and the late Leroy Lail, local trailblazers in this great industry, are now honored with the newly established Lynn and Leroy Lane.
Taylorsville Man Misses Court Appearance On Felony Charges
Leslie Allen James, 39 of Taylorsville, was arrested on Tuesday after missing a court appearance. Failure to appear warrants were served and James was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center with a bond set at $25,000. James is scheduled for a court appearance on July 1st on felony charges of larceny and possession of stolen goods.
July 2024 - Construction Update
June was an extremely busy month, and most renovations and the addition are complete inside the Hickory Metro Convention Center. Hickory Construction Company has kept the crews busy with everything from installing new doors, painting and installing carpet in the original Convention Center section to laying down flooring in the addition.
Making a splash this summer
LENOIR, N.C. (QC LIFE) - The City of Lenoir plans to begin building a new splash pad at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex. Construction will around July, 15 and barring any unforeseen issues, should be completed by the end of the year. The pad will be pear-shaped at 2,516 square feet with a 5-foot border. The spray area itself will be 1,648 square feet with 55 different types of spray features and two ground activators for children to turn on the sprayers.

Taylorsville, NC – Local favorites The Night Move Band will perform on Saturday, June 29th at Alexander County Courthouse Park (101 West Main Ave., Taylorsville, NC) at 7pm, Rain or Shine! The Night Move band is composed of five accomplished musicians, each with over 25 years of experience! Band members include Bob Bunch, Drummer From Statesville; Larry Arndt, Lead Guitar From Claremont; Phil Witherspoon, Lead Vocalist From Taylorsville; Randy Taylor, Bass Guitar/Vocals From Hickory; and Vincent (Vinny) Virgintino, Keyboards/Vocals From Statesville.
