HICKORY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Crowds gathered on Monday to see the latest addition to the Hickory Aviation Museum.

A combat veteran, an AV-8B Harrier II and its wingman were flown into Hickory Regional this afternoon.

The famous jump jet is now a part of the museum’s growing collection.

It was on display for all to see after performing several air maneuvers before landing.

“I’d say thank you ’cause they’re the only reason we have this plane today to show it off to everyone else,” said aviation enthusiast, Ethan Chapman. “Forget about the plane. It’s the people that make it fly. They’re the people that’s gone through all this training just to make the plane fly.”

While the museum addition has landed for good, the second wingman jet is set to leave on Tuesday.

The Hickory Aviation Museum will provide a live stream on its Facebook page .
