Man faces felony charges in Fayette County

HICO, WV (WVNS) — A Hico man faces felony charges, involving kidnapping, in Fayette County.

27-year-old Dustin Coleman, of Hico, was charged with the felony offense of Kidnapping, as well as Domestic Assault, Domestic Battery, and Destruction of Property, which are misdemeanor charges.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, near 2:00 a.m., deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were informed by a concerned father after receiving a call from Coleman stating he was going to kill his girlfriend.

Deputies searched the area, located the two people and spoke with the woman who stated that her boyfriend prevented her from leaving by blocking her vehicle in at Midland Trail High School.

Coleman then threw a lit cigarette at the woman, pushed her against her car, and broke her phone. He said to her that he would kill the next person that made him feel that way. The woman was able to leave after Coleman’s father called him to notify him that law enforcement was involved.
