HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A man accused of crashing into two patrol cars and a tow truck at the scene of an accident, the High Point Police Department says.

On Wednesday around 11:55 p.m., an officer responded to a single-car crash on Interstate 74 West near Jamestown Parkway. The car collided with metal wire barrier cables, crossed the grass median and came to a stop under the bridge. The driver was arrested for driving while impaired.

Two HPPD patrol cars with blue emergency lights on blocked the far lane of I-74W while officers investigated the crash. Around 12:50 a.m. Thursday, another driver on I-74 allegedly failed to move over and hit the two patrol cars and a tow truck.

That driver, Jose Antonio Vazquez-Gayton, was charged with impaired driving, failure to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles and reckless driving.

The patrol cars were unoccupied, and no injuries were reported to any drivers.
