John Harold Carter III will perform national anthem at Iconic stadium in August. Talk about an opprtunity! John Harold Carter, a lifelong Poughkeepsie, NY resident is set to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at an upcoming Yankees game. Carter, a longtime music lover of R&B and oldies music has been a fixture around the Hudson Valley karaoke bar scene for decades, performing music like the Stylistics and Frankie Vailli and the Four Seasons' "Sherry".

Closure of Newburgh Social Security office draws ire of officials, locals
The closure of Newburgh’s Social Security office and its relocation to Wallkill is drawing a lot of criticism from elected officials and Hudson Valley residents. Rep. Pat Ryan and state Sen. Rob Rolison slammed the Social Security Administration in a letter, saying, in part, that the SSA did not provide sufficient public information about the closure. Both officials are demanding increased services for Orange County families. County Legislator Kevindaryan Lujan said the county needs a Social Security hub in Newburgh because there isn't sufficient public transportation from Newburgh to Wallkill.
