Byrnes Mill annexes about .95-acre lot
The city of Byrnes Mill just got a little bigger. The Byrnes Mill Board of Alderpersons voted 4-0 June 26 to annex an approximately .95-acre vacant lot at 27 Walters Place into the city limits. Ward 1 Alderman Bob Prado and Ward 2 Alderwoman Cindy Davies were absent from the meeting.
Arnold hires firm to handle Pomme Road right-of-way acquisition
The city of Arnold has hired a firm to help it acquire access to land so a Pomme Road improvement project may begin. City Council members voted 6-0 on July 11 to pay up to $125,850 to O.R. Colan Associates of St. Charles to provide right-of-way acquisition services for the project. Ward 2 Councilman Brian McArthur and Ward 4 Councilman Butch Cooley were absent from the meeting.
Jones departs Crystal City for Ste. Genevieve
A fixture in Crystal City athletics has moved on. Ken Jones resigned in June as Crystal activities director and director of transportation and is the new transportation director for the Ste. Genevieve R-II School District. Jones, 47, oversees about 40 employees, including bus drivers and mechanics, and manages an expanded fleet through the district’s recent acquisition of Fallert Bus Service, Inc.
