Damage reports, power outages across Quad Cities, surrounding areas after storm Monday
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Quad Cities and surrounding areas had tornado warnings in effect on Monday night, during a storm that brought high winds to the area. Monday was a First Alert Day thru 11 p.m. for high heat and severe storms, which hit the area throughout the day and into the evening.
Kewanee/Wethersfield Townships Declared Local State of Emergency
The Henry County Office of Emergency Management has declared a local state of emergency for Kewanee and Wethersfield Townships. Residents in these areas who are uninsured or underinsured and do not have the physical ability to clear downed trees from their property, may request assistance from the Henry County Office of Emergency Management. The Henry County OEM has partnered with local non-profit to provide tree cutting services for qualifying residents. “This is an offer for physical assistance, and not a financial benefit.”
Outbreak of Gastrointestinal Disease from Wildlife Rehab Facility in Rock Island County
According to public health officials, at least 12 individuals from Iowa and four Illinois counties have been identified with a probable or confirmed diagnosis of cryptosporidiosis following contact with raccoons at Pat’s Bandits in Hillsdale. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are working with public health authorities in Rock Island and Iowa to investigate an outbreak of cryptosporidiosis, a gastrointestinal disease, in persons helping at a Rock Island County wildlife rehabilitation facility. Authorities are advising anyone who visited the center between June 22nd and July 3rd, 2024, and is experiencing symptoms to seek immediate medical care and testing to prevent further spread of the infection. The center is cooperating with the investigation to ensure appropriate measures are taken to address the health concern.

Bridge inspection is scheduled to begin Monday, July 15.
