An eight-run first inning powered the Rochester Red Wings to a 10-4 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday in Buffalo. All eight runs in the first came with two outs, as the Wings (6-2 in the second half, 44-37 overall) opened the scoring when Juan Yepez and Trey Lipscomb drew back-to-back walks, with Lipscomb’s walk forcing home Darren Baker from third to make it 1-0. Northwest Rochester library, undergoing renovations, to open temporary location
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Maplewood Community Library is closed to the public while it undergoes major renovations. Beginning Monday, July 8, a temporary library will open in the former Holy Rosary church at 414 Lexington Ave. Its hours will be 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
Syracuse women’s lacrosse picks up transfer from Rochester area
Syracuse, N.Y. —The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team has picked up a transfer from the Rochester area. Ava Peers of Fairport, N.Y., who spent her freshman season at the University of Louisville as a midfielder, will transfer to Syracuse for the 2025 season. Peers’ high school coach, Mara Karpp, confirmed the transfer to syracuse.com.
Red Wings’ Dylan Crews named to Futures Game roster
Rochester Red Wings outfielder Dylan Crews will represent the team and the Washington Nationals organization at the 2024 All-Star Futures Game, playing for the National League Futures team. Police investigate after man arrives at hospital with gunshot wound
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. At 3 p.m., officers went to Rochester General Hospital for a walk-in gunshot victim who came by a private vehicle. The victim was a 28-year-old man from the city who had a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
