Central MN American Legion Baseball Update
The Eden Valley Post 381 defeated Holdingford Post 211, they out hit them ten to nine. They collected a pair of doubles and they played solid defense. Lane Harffstarted on the mound, he threw four innings to earn the win He gave up five hits, one run and he recorded four strikeouts. Carson Schmalz threw three innings, he gave up four hits and two runs.
Rud Returns to St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey as Assistant Coach
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey head coach Brett Larson announced the addition of Eric Rud as Assistant Coach to round out his 2024-25 coaching staff on Wednesday. A 25-year veteran of the coaching world with head coaching experience, Rud returns to St. Cloud for the third time after previous stints as an assistant coach with the men's team from 2005-10 and as the head coach of the women's team from 2014-19. Rud most recently served as the head coach of the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, his second stint as a head coach in the nation's top junior hockey league.
Tupy and Breña Selected as St. Cloud State Senior Athletes of the Year
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Athletics has named baseball player Luke Tupy (New Prague, Minn.) and track & field athlete Paola Breña (Queretero, Mexico) the 2023-24 St. Cloud State Athletes of the Year. The award is annually given to the top male and female Husky with the most impressive comprehensive collegiate career who exhausted or concluded his or her collegiate eligibility. Both athletes earned All-America and multiple All-Conference honors while helping their respective team succeed at the conference and national levels.

The plan is to continue to include: Arrowhead West/Section 2B: Cold Spring Springers, Moorhead Brewers, Moorhead Mudcats, Hamel Hawks, and Sobieski Skis, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County, New London-Spicer, Paynesville Pirates the Regal Eagles of the County Line League teams and the Foley Lumberjacks formerly of the Sauk Valley League, now the Victory League along with Sobieski Skis, St. Stephen Steves, Avon Lakers, St. Wendel Saints, Opole Bears, Freeport Black Sox, Royalton River Dogs and Nisswa Lightning, throughout their league playoffs, regional and state.
Novak and Herrera Earn CSC Academic All-America Honors
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – A pair of student-athletes from St. Cloud State Wrestling earned one of the nation's top academic honors with junior Nick Novak (New Prague, Minn.) and graduate Anthony Herrera (Stansbury Park, Utah) being named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American ® Men's At-Large team. Novak earned All-America Second Team recognition while Herrera earned his way to the Third Team.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball has been named a recipient of the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the organization on Monday. Redshirt sophomore Tony Dahl (Buffalo, Minn.), senior Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia), graduate Craig Steele (Portage, Wis.), graduate Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) and senior Matt Willert (Buffalo, Minn.) have been named to the NABC Honors Court for their individual achievement in the classroom.
Eight Huskies Added to NCHC Academic All-Conference
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey had eight freshmen and first-year transfers added to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league on Tuesday. The group of eight Huskies were among 62 newcomers added to total 174 Academic All-Conference and 106 Distinguished Scholar Athletes league-wide for the 2023-24 season.
