HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ)– A parade celebrated the Hollidaysburg Little League 10 and Under team’s state championship Wednesday night, as the team is preparing for the East Regional Tournament in Rhode Island.

After winning the State Championship on Sunday in Dallas, Pennsylvania, the team was back practicing the basics as they prepared for their next challenge. Head Coach Charlie Burger said that while it wouldn’t have been possible without the parents or his fellow coaches, the credit belongs to those who’ve been putting in the effort on the field.

“It was an awesome experience for our fans, our community and especially our boys,” Burger said. “We’ve just been so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of kids. I mean they’re super coachable, they got hearts of lions.”

Third baseman and pitcher Aiden Pavlik said that the team has been playing hard since they started in June and that they just hope to continue collecting achievements.

“We’re all like great baseball players, and we have really good teamwork,” Pavlik said. “I’ve just been playing baseball with my friends and winning championships and hanging out.”

Catcher and pitcher Ronan Diehl said his favorite part about this summer has been hanging out with his friends, going to hotels and winning championships.

“With all of the practice it’s kind of tiring but at the end, it pays off a lot,” Diehl said. “We love winning championships.”

The team is set to play the Delaware state champion at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Burger said the most important thing for the team is to continue to stick together.

“Honestly I think the strength of this team is their support for each other,” Burger said. “They’re the best of friends on the field and off the field. That really makes them the team that they are. They would have each other’s back through thick and thin and they do every game.”
