Six-year-old girl dies in shooting tied to murder-suicide case
A weekend of violence that authorities have described as a murder-suicide that extended from a mobile home park in the Wilson County part of Sharpsburg to a residence in northeastern Nash County has resulted in the loss of a 6-year-old girl’s life. Second sewer spill this month impacting Rocky Mount residents, Tar River
A sewer spill has been impacting Rocky Mount residents for nearly a week. This comes one week after another spill in the exact same spot. The city of Rocky Mount said on Facebook that the spill started on the morning of Aug. 8 at a manhole under the trestle on River Side Drive. According to the city, the sewer overflow was caused by "significant rainfall being experienced in the region."
