HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The opening of the Pouliot Pool in Holyoke was delayed after a water main break in the city just over two weeks ago.

Holyoke Parks & Recreation Department announced on Monday, the pool is now open, “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked through this hiccup, and our awesome Pouliot Pool staff can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces as they jump in!! Big shout out to Holyoke Water Works & City of Holyoke DPW for moving quickly to get the water back to the pool and things moving as quickly as we could.”

A water main break on June 19th affected a large part of Holyoke. Crews worked to repair the break in the area of Park View Terrace and South Elm Street, located behind the Fitzpatrick Ice Arena and Holyoke High School. Water was restored for the neighborhood on the day of the main break.

Pouliot Pool located at 575 Maple Street was scheduled to open on June 24th however, the water main break impacted the facility due to no running water. Managers told 22News the impact of the closure has been obvious over the last few hot days since it is the only remaining public, outdoor pool in the city of Holyoke.

The water department said restoration for this break was a significant project and required outside help. Meanwhile, the city has its other splash pads spread around the community up and running.

Families can purchase their summer passes at the pool. Adult swim will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on weekdays, open swim is from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.

    Summer Pass Fees:

    • Free for children 6 and under
    • $5 for ages 7 – 17
    • $10 for adults
    • $5 for seniors
    • $15 for non residents
