Nebraska state senators hosting 2 public meetings on property taxes, education
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A group of state senators will hold a public forum here Sunday ahead of an expected special session next week. The community meetings will be held in Omaha and Lincoln, which weren’t stops on Gov. Jim Pillen’s tax plan town hall tour across the state this summer — though he did hold his first one in Bellevue, which he announced two days prior.

35th anniversary of Flight 232 crash marked
Sioux City, Iowa-Friday, July 19th, was the 35th anniversary of the crash of United Flight 232 at the Sioux Gateway Airport. The Mid American Museum of Aviation and Transportation held an open house to remember the 112 who died in the crash, the 180 who survived, and the first responders and community members who aided them. Museum board member Pam Mickelson said the open house began at 10 a.m. and had activities throughout the day.
Five-star offensive tackle names Nebraska as a top school
A top class of 2026 offensive lineman has cut his list of finalists, and Nebraska made the list. Jackson Cantwell is a five-star offensive tackle for Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri. Cantwell cut the number of offers he’s currently considering in half. Nebraska is listed among the 14 finalists the tackle named earlier in the week.
