Homer’s Music on the Green: July 3rd
HOMER, NY (CortacaToday) — Homer’s free summer concert series continues with another Wednesday performance. This time, the local group set to perform is Ageless Jazz. If you’re looking for some laidback summer fun, grab some chairs, bring your favorite drinks and snacks to the Homer Village Green, and enjoy the music.
2 People Wanted By New York State Police
Do you know either of these two individuals? New York State Police want to speak to them in connection to a crime. New York State Police at Homer need your help in identifying these two suspects - a male and a female. Trooper responded to a call at the Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville on May 14, 2024. It was reported that the two suspects left the store with a full cart of items and did not try to pay for the items. The suspects fled the Walmart in a black pickup truck. Despite their best efforts, Troopers have not been able to locate the suspects and need the public's help identifying them. Truxton Man Arrested After Making Threats Towards Another Person
Around 5:15 on Tuesday evening, officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Chenango Road in Truxton for a reported domestic incident. After an investigation by officers on scene, they were able to determine 55 year old Gary A. Vallese of Truxton, had made threats towards another person during the incident. Officers arrested Vallese and charged him with Harassment in the 2nd degree.
Dryden Dispensary announces addition of drive-thru option
DRYDEN, NY (CortacaToday) — A marijuana dispensary in Tompkins County is adding something new. The Dryden Dispensary plans to open their drive-thru on Monday. It’ll be the first of its kind in New York. Managers say you must prepay on their website, select a time, show an order confirmation and ID, and receive your order. They stress prepay is the only option.

City of Cortland Announces Street Milling/Paving Projects – To Begins July 15th
It will be a busy roadworks season for the City of Cortland Department of Public Works as the list of streets to be milled and paved this summer have been announced. In total, 11 streets within the City of Cortland will be milled and paved; two streets will also have new granite curbing installed and one will have gas lines replaced prior to paving.
City announces addition of months for brush pickup; list of streets for summer paving also announced
Cortland mayor Scott Steve announced at Tuesday’s Common Council meeting that the city is adding more months to its brush pickup rotation. Originally designated for the spring and fall months every year, the city will now have brush and yard waste pickup in July and August. The pickup for July starts on Monday (July 8) and goes through the rest of the week.

City of Cortland Sets Public Hearing Date on Proposed Occupancy Tax
During the City of Cortland Common Council meeting last night, the Common Council voted unanimously to set a public hearing date for a proposed local law that would reimplement an occupancy tax on hotels, motels, and bed & breakfast, or other tour rental stay facilities within the City of Cortland. The public hearing will take place on July 16th at 6pm, the next Common Council meeting at City Hall.
