Company news: Stephanie Grandjean, Katie Lemery-White promoted by Contact
Contact Community Services announced two promotions. Stephanie Grandjean has been promoted to division director of crisis services. Joining Contact in September 2013, she has played a significant role in supporting the operational and financial aspects of several key programs including 988, 211, Crisis Connect, and 911 co-location. She is a certified instructor in mental health and suicide prevention programs. A Syracuse University alumna, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public health at Eastern Washington University. WellNow Urgent Care opens new facility in Cortland
CORTLAND, N.Y. — A new WellNow Urgent Care location is now open in Cortland. The full-service urgent care center will provide evaluation and treatment for a full range of non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, as well as occupational medicine services. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, patients can walk in or, if preferred, reserve a time online.

Over the last few days, we have noticed several Hudson Valley residents sharing photos of a random text message allegedly from "Tolls By NY." The text message alleges that the recipient owes a balance for an unpaid toll.
The Most Deadly Prison Riot In America Happened In New York
New York State has the notorious distinction of being the home of the deadliest prison riot in U.S. history. The 53rd anniversary of the tragedy is coming up in about a month and a half. The Attica Prison Riot, also known as the Attica Prison Rebellion, began on September 9, and ended on September 13, 1971, at the Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, New York. Attica is located at 639 Exchange Street in Wyoming County.
Listeria Outbreak Reaches New York State, Hospitalizes 7 People
A listeria outbreak linked to deli meats has sickened at least seven people in New York. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating over two dozen reported illnesses across 12 states. As of Friday, 28 people have been sickened and hospitalized, with the most cases reported in New York state, with 7 people hospitalized. Two deaths have been reported, one in New Jersey and another in Illinois. The first case was reported May 29, and the most recent illness connected to the outbreak was reported July 5. The patients range in age from 32-94.
