    Woman arrested after drunkenly attacking husband, attempting to beat down door

    HOMETOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Putnam County woman faces charges after reportedly attacking her husband while intoxicated last week.

    According to Putnam County Magistrate Court documents, on June 19, 2024, at approximately 11:08pm, Deputy Moses with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Hometown area of Putnam County with regard to a reported domestic incident in progress.

    Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Moses made contact with the caller, who advised that his wife, Samantha Smith – 37 years old of Hometown, WV – was drunk and had been attacking him after the two had been fighting throughout the evening.

    The victim stated that while attempting to retrieve his things from his room to leave, Smith began attempting to beat down the door to the room. When she finally made her way into the room she began to strike the victim.

    The victim had recorded the interaction on his phone and could be heard repeatedly asking the suspect to “stop hitting me” and “stop pushing me.” Red marks could reportedly be observed on the victim’s chest and neck.

    When the victim was able to leave the room, he says he hit a shelf out of anger. When attempting to leave the house, the suspect reportedly stood in front of the door and started to push him, preventing him from exiting the residence. It was at this point that the decision was made to contacted emergency services.

    After speaking with the caller, authorities made contact with the suspect, who stated that the two had gotten into an argument. It was also advised by Smith that the victim had broken the aforementioned shelf out of anger before leaving the house.

    Samantha Smith was placed under arrest by police and charged with Domestic Battery as a result of the events which took place as part of this incident.
