ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Horseheads baseball standout Dom Russ capped off his Blue Raider career in big time style.

Thursday, Russ signed the first local NIL (Name, image and likeness) deal with Subway in the Horseheads Village Plaza. Russ will take his talents to D-I Le Moyne next season to play baseball for the Dolphins in Syracuse. This comes just hours before Russ walked the stage to graduate from Horseheads High School at night.

The deal was put together by Glory2Glory Sports Agency and Subway franchise owner Matt Hufnagel.

A 1993 Horseheads High School graduate, Hufnagel owns 36 Subway franchise stores which is the most in the upstate New York region. Hufnagel, who served as the general manager for the Elmira Pioneers and Elmira Jackals in his career, is proud to present this opportunity to Russ and Glory2Glory Sports.

Russ hit over .400 in the leadoff spot for the Blue Raiders who went on to win another Section IV Championship this past season. Subway will be offering Russ an opportunity to earn compensation and provide free food items throughout his collegiate career. Precise contract details were not made available Thursday but Russ is honored to be a part of local sports history with the deal.

As part of the NIL agreement, Russ will have the chance to also be a part of baseball clinics for kids as an instructor with Subway serving as a sponsor. 18 Sports takes you to the big signing and promo shoot from Thursday.
