It was reported on Tuesday evening by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks had agreed on a blockbuster trade that sends Mikal Bridges to the Knicks in exchange for four unprotected first-round picks and other draft compensation.

Wojnarowski shortly followed this report with more breaking news, revealing that Brooklyn had also agreed to a separate trade with the Houston Rockets that included only draft picks. This deal was hard to understand on the surface, but Wojnarowski dropped arguably his biggest report of the night just minutes later, saying the Rockets want to trade for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant:

As Wojnarowski and several others have reported, the Suns are not looking to move Durant, but it seems at least one team is prepared for the possibility they blow up their roster. If Durant does end up somewhere other than Phoenix before his career ends, it will be his fifth different NBA franchise, which has been one of the biggest critiques against his career.

Responding to a fan who called him out amid these trade rumors, Durant shared a four-word message on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Seemingly unbothered by the criticism of how his career has played out, Durant just wants to play basketball. In his defense, the criticism in this particular instance is not warranted, as there has been no indication Durant is seeking a departure from Phoenix.

As of right now, all signs point to Houston's interest in Durant being one-sided, as neither the star forward nor his current team have shown a desire to end their partnership.
