Texans get positive injury update on franchise left tackle Laremy Tunsil

The Houston Texans report for training camp today, getting a head-start on the 2024 NFL season. Every team has to deal with injuries, even at this point in the year and Houston is no exception to the rule.

Right now the biggest injury issue facing the team is the recovery of franchise left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who underwent surgery on his knee this offseason. Good news on this front. Aaron Wilson is reporting that Tunsil is doing well after having an arthroscopic cleanup procedure. He is fully healthy but will take it easy to start training camp.

Tunsil has made the Pro Bowl in four of the five years since he joined the Texans, the lone exception being his injury-shortened 2021 campaign.

In related news, Wilson also shared a couple of injury updates on other Houston players, also positive. Projected starting right tackle Tytus Howard and backup tight end Teagan Quitoriano are both recovering well from their respective knee and oblique issues.

Howard only appeared in seven games last season and his health might be a crtiical x-factor in 2024. Last year at left guard Howard posted the lowest pass-blocking grade of any offensive lineman for the Texans. A turnaround as he returns to right tackle in the absence of George Fant will be an indispensable ingredient for Bobby Slowik's offense.
