NFL pundit says hype for Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud isn't high enough

The stars may be aligning for the Houston Texans to win their first championship in franchise history this year. After a surprise breakout 2023 season, the Texans front office followed up with an aggressive offseason, acquiring several star players to round out their 53-man roster. That includes signing pass rushers Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry on defense, as well as trading for running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

On paper the supporting pieces are in place and there is a Super Bowl window open - provided that the team's franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud continues to grow in his second year in the NFL. However, there are some folks who think he's already primed to make an MVP run in 2024. Here's Nick Wright saying that no matter how hyped you are for Stroud in Year 2, it's not enough.

So long as Stroud stays relatively healthy the Texans should be in line to win their division again. How they perform beyond that point in the playoffs is anybody's guess, but you wouldn't be crazy to think they can go all the way.

Even if Stroud goes down for a few games with a minor injury Houston should be well-prepared to handle his absence. Both primary backup Davis Mills and third-stringer Case Keenum looked sharp in last week's Hall of Fame game against the Chicago Bears.
