West Fork Advances to State Softball Tournament with Shutout of Hudson
The West Fork softball team advanced to next week’s state tournament with a 3-0 shutout of Hudson in the Class 2A Region 6 final in Sheffield Monday night. That was one of 12 strikeouts by Warhawk junior pitcher Libby Trewin who picked up the win for West Fork. Trewin pitched seven innings in the shutout of Hudson to advance to state.
Dike-New Hartford comes up short to Hudson in softball regional semifinal
The Dike-New Hartford softball team was unable to match Hudson’s offensive output, falling 7-3 in a 2A regional semifinal Friday, as aired on 99 The Wave. The Wolverines scored first when Karsyn Nolan stole home in the top of the first. But Hudson answered with one in the bottom of the first and three in the second, including a two-run homer by Addie Rhoades. DNH cut the deficit to 4-2 when Kailyn Meester drove in a run in the third, but Hudson answered with two more in the fourth and one in the fifth. Hanna Steffen hit a solo home run in the fifth, but the Wolverines got no closer. Interim coach Rhandi Oelmann says the offense didn’t translate to success. The Wolverines outhit the Pirates, but stranded nine baserunners.

Dike-New Hartford Baseball back in district final to face Roland-Story Saturday
For the first time since 2022, the Dike-New Hartford baseball team will compete in a district final Saturday. They’ll play at Roland-Story in the District 4 final. The Wolverines (14-12) bounced back from consecutive losses to end the regular season by defeating Iowa Falls-Alden 7-2 in Tuesday’s district semifinal. The Wolverines compiled seven hits and were aided by being issued eight walks. Additionally, junior pitcher Lewis Textor pitched 2.1 quality relief innings after an injury kept him off the mound for a portion of the regular season. Head Coach Jordan Martin on Textor’s return.
West Fork Softball Rallies Past Grundy Center to Advance to Regional Final
The West Fork softball team used a late rally Friday night to defeat Grundy Center 6-5 in a Class 2A regional semifinal in Clarksville. Playing as the road team, the Warhawks trailed 5-0 entering the top of the seventh inning. Preslee Dickman began the rally with a leadoff single, and with the bases loaded a few batters later, two runs would score after a Grundy Center error on a Brylee Dickman hit to second base. Later in the inning, JoAnna Wallace hit a two-run single to make it 5-4 Spartans. Facing a 1-2 count with two outs in the seventh, Preslee Dickman hit a two-run single up the middle to give West Fork a 6-5 lead as the Warhawks advanced to the regional final. Warhawk head coach Sadie Winfrey on her team’s confidence heading into the top of the seventh inning.
Express finish at .500 this weekend on road trip that wraps up Monday
