Higher levels of humidity are on the way Wednesday, with temperatures expected in the upper 80s.

Tuesday’s sunny, dry weather brought families to Huntington beaches, including Frank Petrone Crabmeadow Beach. Kids were active, burying each other in sand or digging large holes in the beaches. Others apparently wanted to drain the Long Island Sound by taking water one bottle at a time and pouring it into other containers nestled on the beach. Other kids hung out in the shade under the playground equipment, looked for shells and eyed seaweed on the beach.

Wednesday is likely to feel hotter, thanks to the humidity.  There is a slight risk of thunderstorms after 3 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
