MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities (HU) responded to a large power outage in the Madison/Monrovia area Friday morning.

A spokesman with the company says the outage was impacting roughly 1,800 customers in the area of Blake Bottom Road south to University Drive, and also from Nance Road east to Indian Creek Road/Providence Main Street.

By 10 a.m., service had been restored to most customers in the area. HU said that some customers in the area of the intersection of Bishop Road and South View Drive are still without power, and will be until crews finish repairs.

The outage was caused by a tree that fell across power lines on Bishop Road.
