Keep these dates in mind as Boise River float season winds down

With summer coming to a close the Boise River float season is wrapping up, but there's still time to plan your trip from Barber Park to Ann Morrison!

Here are the most important dates to remember if you plan on floating before the end of the season on September 2.

• Equipment rentals and shuttle bus services are closed Monday through Thursday during the last two weeks of the float season; please plan ahead for the following dates:
• All floater services open and Barber Park parking fees ($7) in effect Friday, August 16 – Sunday, August 18. Closed August 19 – 22.
• All floater services open and Barber Park parking fees ($7) in effect Friday, August 23 – Sunday, August 25. Closed August 26 – 29.
• All floater services open and Barber Park parking fees ($7) in effect Friday, August 30 – Monday, September 2.
• All floater services closed Tuesday, September 3 for the season.
• Parking at Barber Park during weekdays is free

Barber Park is busy, as floaters enjoy the final few weeks of float season.

"My team and I are just trying to get one last float in before the season is over. I'd say I probably come out three times per season if I can."

Labor day marks the end of Float The Boise season. If you own your own vessel you can still float but bus shuttles from Ann Morrison and rentals at barber park will be coming to an end.

For many, that marks the end of a fun summer tradition.

“Sadly, it was last summer we have a new baby, so we been home doing that, but we have the day off, grandparents are watching him and we’re getting out here to float the river."

Donovan has lived in Boise for several years, and says floating the river is one of the best activities the city has to offer.

"It's free, you get some sun, you get to stay cool when it's 100 degrees out, like it's going to be tomorrow and you just come out with the family. its a fun time for everyone."

All summer barber park has been bustling, according to the city of Boise an estimated 130,000 people floated the Boise River from Barber to Ann Morrrison and about 40,000 riding the shuttles.

“My favorite part is the rapids. We floated last year and it was really exciting just the moving along and enjoying the flow of the water."

"it's just really relaxing it's just enjoyable and you can go at your own pace. Because its hot outside and its cool in the water."

Shuttles and rentals are closed Monday through Thursday for the last two weeks of the season.

Services will be open August 16 through 18, 23rd to the 25th and August 30th to Monday September 2nd.

Lane Donovan says, "Its sad buts its nice to know that heat will be coming to an end so is good to have that one last like Farwell to Summer float.”
