One man is dead and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash that shut down Arbon Valley Highway on the Fort Hall Reservation for several hours on Tuesday, according to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

The crash involving a car and pickup truck occurred around 10:51 a.m. on Arbon Valley Highway between Elevator Loop and Ramsey Road southwest of the Pocatello Regional Airport, according to authorities.

One of the vehicles had five occupants. One Fort Hall man, Marlin Uribe, 57, died at the scene of the crash and the other four occupants were transported to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for injuries sustained in the crash, authorities said.

Multiple ground ambulances from Fort Hall and Power County as well as two emergency helicopters responded to the scene.

The other vehicle involved only had one occupant who was not injured in the crash, the Tribes said.

Authorities have not yet released the names of anyone else involved in the crash and have not yet provided an update on the conditions of the injured individuals.

Arbon Valley High was immediately shut down because of the crash and reopened around 1:30 p.m., authorities said.

Fort Hall police, Fort Hall Fire Department, American Falls Fire Department, Idaho State Police and Power County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.

The crash currently remains under investigation by the Fort Hall Police Department.
