SODA SPRINGS — There are many powerful ways to make a difference in the community.

The members of the Caribou Bible Church in Soda Springs are doing their part as they bring back providing high school students with free lunches one day a week.

Friends Feeding Friends was a program that began in 2006 with Donna McCullough leading the weekly event.

McCullough had a heart for kids and a great love for God. She was one always ready and willing to share a good message and volunteer to help others.

The Caribou Bible Church, 290 E. 1st St. N., sits kiddy corner to Soda Springs High School making it easy walking distance and a great place for students to go for a free meal.

McCullough ran the program for years before she simply couldn’t keep up. She passed away in 2019.

Megan Ozburn was one fortunate to have watched McCullough handle the program years ago, which successfully grew to feeding 100 kids weekly.

Ozburn knew the impact it made on students then and knew the students could really use it again now.

Ozburn, with friend and fellow Caribou Bible Church member Alisa Miller, are among the volunteers who brought back the Friends Feeding Friends program a few times a month last year.

The meal program steadily grew in student participation and it soon became apparent that it was something the church should continue providing.

So this school year Caribou Bible Church is once again opening its doors on Mondays to high school students for a free lunch.

All students are welcome to come to the church and get a free lunch varying from chili to tacos.

Ozburn said, “The Bible reveals Jesus not only cared for people’s spiritual health but also their physical needs. We are simply trying to do the same by providing a warm, home cooked meal for any student who wants it, while expressing to them God created them special and loves them beyond measure.”

The program is completely built with love from the volunteers who are providing the meals.

Ozburn said, “We welcome the help (from volunteers) but don’t ask for it. God really is the one providing and there is always more than enough food. He’s given us the time and ability to serve in this way and never found it to be a financial burden to do so.”

Neither Ozburn nor Miller wants any recognition for the meal program.

Both ladies felt inspired to bring back the program and purely hope it brings blessings to the students.

It’s a program that's here to stay as long as the students are coming.

“It’s a blessing to have such an opportunity to follow in Donna’s footsteps, loving God and feeding kids,” Ozburn said.
