EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Almost a week after Tristen Newton heard his name called in the 2024 NBA draft, Newton will now join the Pacers summer league team in Las Vegas.

Selected in the second round at the 49th pick, the former Burges standout will now compete in the franchises summer league along side 14 other rookies and free agents.

“Obviously he’s [Tristen] a national champion, multi two-time national champion,” said general manager Chad Buchanan. “He’s done a lot of winning at a great program and he was a big part of it as the leader at the point guard position. He’s a gamer, he’s one of those guys who made big plays after big plays in big moments. And we really liked that about him. We like to size, like his pedigree, like his toughness and very calm.”

The league will begin on July 12th and will go through the 18th, followed by the championship.
