NFL pundit hands Indianapolis Colts potential star in 2025 mock draft

With training camp just weeks away, the Indianapolis Colts are focused on what will be a crucial campaign.

Their thoughts aren't yet with the upcoming 2025 NFL draft, but that doesn't mean we can't take a little peek into which prospects might fit the Colts.

In his most recent mock draft, Matt Miller of ESPN had the Colts grabbing a potential star in the form of Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.

"Tight end remains one of the team's few offensive question marks, and Loveland will be a top-10 player on my preseason board thanks to his ability as a receiver and expert run blocking. He caught 45 passes for four scores in the run-heavy Michigan offense last season, and the 6-5 junior has elite agility and speed in the open field as a receiving option," Miller wrote.

Loveland has been a popular choice for the Colts in these way-too-early mock drafts. The tight end position is in a bit of disarray going into the 2024 season so it's not completely out of pocket.

With that said, the Colts rarely draft solely based on need in the first round. The 2024 draft was an example of this when Indy grabbed edge rusher Laiatu Latu, who was the highest-graded player on their board. This was despite considerable needs at the wide receiver and cornerback positions.

Loveland would give the Colts a pure, all-around tight end with receiving upside to become a core piece along with Michael Pittman Jr., Jonathan Taylor, Adonai Mitchell and Josh Downs.

Though we shouldn't sleep on Jelani Woods breaking out, it also wouldn't be a surprise to see the Colts go this route next April.
