NFL expert suggests former Colts superstar sign with division rival in free agency

Former Indianapolis Colts star linebacker Shaquille Leonard is still on the market looking for a new home in free agency.

After releasing "The Maniac" midway through the 2023 season, Leonard found a spot with the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, Leonard is back on the market and has been since the end of last season.

In suggesting one free agent each team should sign before training camp, Lorenzo Reyna of Pro Football Network landed on the Houston Texans as the team who should sign the former Colts All-Pro linebacker.

"With linebacker still a question mark, they could strike big by luring in a former Pro Bowl rival of theirs in Shaquille Leonard. The three-time Pro Bowler would help replace last year’s leading tackler Blake Cashman, who is now with the Minnesota Vikings," Reyna wrote.

While it would pain Colts fans to see Leonard don a Texans uniform, he also isn't the same player he was before the back/nerve injury derailed the last two seasons.

Leonard simply wasn't moving with the same explosiveness that he enjoyed earlier in his career. The Colts thought it best to cut ties entirely, and it proved to be the correct move, as painful as it may have been.

If Leonard has been able to get his body back into shape, he could be a steal for a team trying to add some depth to their linebacker room.

However, there's some pretty big risk considering what he put on tape in 2023.
