We are just a few weeks away from the Indianapolis Colts 2024 Training Camp beginning on July 25.

And yet we already have NFL Draft analysts hard at work scouting for the 2025 NFL Draft. ESPN's Matt Miller even released his first 2025 mock draft , and he has the Colts landing a dynamic offensive weapon.

    Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

"Who could resist the temptation to give Anthony Richardson more playmakers? Tight end remains one of the team's few offensive question marks, and Loveland will be a top-10 player on my preseason board thanks to his ability as a receiver and expert run blocking. He caught 45 passes for four scores in the run-heavy Michigan offense last season, and the 6-5 junior has elite agility and speed in the open field as a receiving option."

    - ESPN's Matt Miller

Miller had the Colts selecting at pick 14, just one pick earlier than where they ended up in the 2024 NFL Draft. He explained on X that ESPN's Football Power Index decided the draft order. And he had them select Michigan TE Colston Loveland. Loveland is entering his junior season at the University of Michigan and has recorded 61 catches, 884 yards, and six touchdowns so far in his collegiate career.

I think Loveland's game will fit the NFL like a glove, and he certainly should be the favorite to be the first TE selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.  But personally, I think pick 14 is a bit high for a TE who hasn't been able to fully show his game yet due to him being in a heavy run-first offense at Michigan. Especially considering how hard it is to be a first-round pick as a TE in today's NFL.

However, I firmly believe the Colts were heavily interested in Georgia TE Brock Bowers during this past draft cycle. There are even rumors that the team had tried to move up for the talented TE before staying put at 15 to draft Laiatu Latu. And after adding WR Adonai Mitchell with their second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, it does seem like TE is the last missing piece to the puzzle, which is their offense.
