Rain moves out, great for fireworks ahead of a less humid weekend

    By Ethan Rosuck,

Yesterday, The Weather Authority gave the “green light” for fireworks across Central Indiana this Fourth of July! It came with a warning that rain would occur first and that indeed was the case. So much so that our own Chief Meteorologist Brian Wilkes stood in the rain before the Indians return home for the holiday weekend.

Storms did move through here overnight and this morning! Some heavy rain prompted some parades and fireworks to be canceled . But it did not stop CarmelFest’s parade from occurring. Check out Shelbyville’s impressive 2.71″ of rain today.

Just as forecast, expect further clearing skies making for ideal fireworks viewing conditions across Central Indiana! The last of the rain will be out of our viewing area by 8:00 p.m. at the latest in our eastern counties.

A few showers will be possible early Friday as a cold front finally sweeps through Central Indiana. This will come with plenty of clearing skies that follow its passage AND a well-deserved drop in humidity levels. Our weekend also looks great with abundant sunshine, comfortable humidity levels and seasonably cooler temperatures!

We’ll turn a bit warmer Monday with a forecast high of 89° ahead of our next decent chance of rain.
