The Indianapolis Colts are finishing up one more upgrade ahead of Training Camp and the 2024 season.

With the team laying down new turf inside of Lucas Oil Stadium.

With the Olympic swim trials finished in Indianapolis, Lucas Oil Stadium's football field is being relaid. But it won't be the same turf that was ripped out to build the swimming pool for the swim trials.

The Colts are laying new turf, which teams commonly do every four years. They aren't making the switch to grass, but they reportedly are laying the same type of turf that can be found inSofi stadium in Los Angeles, California called Matrix Turf with Helix. You can read about this by clicking the link in the previous sentence. This upgrade isn't quite what Colts center Ryan Kelly and many players have been asking each NFL team to do, which is switch to grass fields.

Hopefully, this upgraded turf will benefit the Colts in terms of performance but, more importantly, the health of their players and visiting players when playing inside Lucas Oil Stadium. If this style of turf can benefit both areas, then this style of turf could possibly become a compromise between NFL teams and the players. Only time will be able to tell.
