The 2024 season is right around the corner, and the biggest weakness on the Indianapolis Colts roster seems pretty clear.

The youth and overall lack of game-changing talent that is the team's secondary. And it showed in Pro Football Focus' (PFF) rankings of all 32 seconadaries across the NFL .

"The Colts' secondary is led by cornerback Kenny Moore II , one of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL. Julian Blackmon had a career year in 2023, putting up a 68.3 overall grade, but this is a unit that needs a leap from second-year corner JuJu Brents and someone to step up at safety opposite of Blackmon."

    - PFF's secondary rankings

With the Colts coming in at 28th in PFF's rankings, only four teams came in below them: the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders, New York Giants, and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Colts' secondary was an issue last season, with the team starting two rookie CBs for the majority of the season and the team's FS position being a liability. And even with that being agreed upon by many who follow and root for the team, the team made no significant moves to address CB or FS during the offseason.

On the bright side, the team will have their leaders in the room back in the fold in SS Julian Blackmon and slot CB Kenny Moore II . But like PFF shared, the play of their secondary is going to be very dependent on the young players such as Juju Brents, Jaylon Jones, or Dallis Flowers taking a huge step forward in the CB room . In terms of FS, they are banking on one of Rodney Thomas or Nick Cross to completely flip a switch and be able to not only be a solid starter but also not a liability. Unless, of course, they choose to do what I believe is wise and sign a veteran to add some stability to their secondary .
