On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts placed a 2023 spot starter on the injury reserve.

The team announced that they were placing center Wesley French on the IR.

Wesley French has been with the Colts since 2022 when he signed as an undrafted free agent. He made his debut on the team's active roster last season. He dressed for all 17 games and even started three. Now, with the team placing him on the IR, French's 2024 season has come to an end before it can even begin. This comes just a day after the team's first unofficial depth chart shared that French was competing with Danny Pinter and rookie Tanor Bortolini for both the backup center and LG job.

To replace French on the Colts ' man roster, they have signed free agent center Ryan Coll. Coll went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft before signing with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent. He started 39 games over four seasons at Richmond during his four-year collegiate career. A fun fact about Coll is that he began his college career in 2019 as a tight end before making the switch to the offensive line. Coll will now take French's place in the ongoing competition with Pinter and Bortolini for both the backup center and LG positions. It'll be an uphill battle for Coll to beat out either of those players, but he officially is getting a shot with the Colts.
