Seattle-based Mod Pizza, which has a restaurant at 20320 N. John Wayne Pkwy., may soon file for bankruptcy. The company is searching for a buyer, an unnamed source told Bloomberg News last week.

Details on when a decision will be made or how it could affect any of the chain’s more than 500 locations across the country remain slim. However, a spokesperson for the fast-casual pizzeria told Nation’s Restaurant News the company plans to “explore all options” to improve its debt and finances.

“We’re working diligently to improve our capital structure and are exploring all options to do so,” the spokesperson said. “Since this is an ongoing process, it would be inappropriate to speculate on the outcome.”

In April, Mod Pizza shuttered 26 underperforming restaurants , which has caused some to wonder if other locations may soon close.

However, General Manager Cody Morrissey said the bankruptcy is not expected to affect the Maricopa restaurant, which opened in December 2021 .

“The bankruptcy is a restructuring of debt. We are not closing and it’s business as usual,” he wrote .
