(The Center Square) – Despite a hefty taxpayer price tag, several states are requiring cities to transition their public transportation to emitting zero greenhouse gasses. Since 2022, seven states have passed laws to transition to zero-emission school buses. In Illinois, a law passed last year requiring all transit agencies to purchase zero-emission buses by 2026. Schaumburg man sentenced for cell-phone store robberies
A Schaumburg man has been sentenced to 26 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for robbing two cellular phone stores in DuPage County. Isa Al Ahad, formerly Stephon Little, 31, was convicted of robbing at gunpoint a Wheaton Sprint store in 2019 and a Hinsdale Verizon Wireless store in 2022.

Wanting wide-open space, residents oppose proposed 315 housing units in rural area
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Chestnut Development is proposing another 315 new housing units in Northfield Township – and residents are pushing back. People raised concerns around the impact on wildlife and forest preservation, the density of the housing and the detraction from the rural character of the area. There were also concerns that more people moving to the development would require more emergency services and, therefore, increase costs to existing residents.
