Illinois man arrested for allegedly selling fentanyl-laced pills: 'Another drug dealer off our streets'
LAKE COUNTY, Ill. - An Illinois man was arrested this week after an investigation uncovered his alleged involvement in selling fentanyl and other drugs. Alejandro I. Dominguez, 42, of Mundelein, faces four felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class X), five felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class 1), one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to delver (Class 2) and 10 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class 4).

Wanting wide-open space, residents oppose proposed 315 housing units in rural area
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Chestnut Development is proposing another 315 new housing units in Northfield Township – and residents are pushing back. People raised concerns around the impact on wildlife and forest preservation, the density of the housing and the detraction from the rural character of the area. There were also concerns that more people moving to the development would require more emergency services and, therefore, increase costs to existing residents.

Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball has signed catcher Hannah Borden to the roster for the 2024 Championship season in Rosemont, Illinois. Borden is a five-year letter winner from Southern Mississippi. She started in 222-of-224 games from 2020 to 2024 and holds the program record for home runs with 50. She recorded a .313 career batting average and is second in program history with 150 career RBIs. In her season as a graduate student, she earned First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference and collected Third-Team NFCA All-South Region laurels after hitting a program-record and conference-leading 18 home runs.

Fermilab to Close Temporarily in August Due to Budget Issues
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory will close a significant part of its operations from Aug. 26 to Sept. 8, WTTW News has confirmed. The indictment alleges Judy Strzelecki, from Downers Grove, Illinois, partook in a fraudulent billing scheme focused on private insurers, capitalizing on services purportedly offered to cancer survivors and women with chronic conditions. Citing a piece from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Illinois, Strzelecki allegedly submitted false insurance claims for items including breast prostheses and compression garments through A Woman's Place LLC, where she served as office manager.
