Quickly after Caitlin Clark was picked No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball coach Lisa Bluder stepped down from the position.

After 24 years of working under head coach Bluder, assistant coach Jan Jensen stepped into the lead role following Bluder's departure. This coaching change marked the first one for Iowa since 2000, and it signified a new chapter for the team under Jensen's leadership.

During the past week, Jensen participated in a discussion on SiriusXM NBA radio alongside Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine to share insights about her recent career move. Additionally, she took the opportunity to delve into her experiences coaching Clark, whom she mentored throughout her college basketball journey.

Jensen delivered an insightful glimpse into Clark's true mindset.

"If you will meet her and you will not judge it and you'll kind of let it make sense to you why her patience might come out or why she's acting a certain way," Jensen said. "You start to figure out it has nothing to do with her stats, nothing to do with her greatness."

During her four seasons with Iowa, Clark broke the record for most career points scored, passing Kelsey Plum.

Jensen continued, "It has everything to do with that she just wants to freaking win. And she believes that to win, it has to be her way, and it has to be this pass then and this shot now."

Clark has continued her greatness to start her WNBA career. She has broken numerous records and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.
