    Here are the nominees for Press-Citizen's Athletes of the Week, June 24-30

    With the softball and baseball seasons entering its final month, several players had standout performances across the Iowa City area last week.

    Here are the nominees for the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s high school Athletes of the Week for June 24-30. Press-Citizen.com readers vote to decide this week’s winners. Voting closes at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

    Players are listed in alphabetical order by last name:

    Girls

    McKenzie Brown, Jr., Iowa City High

    McKenzie Brown made her presence felt during Iowa City High’s 12–2 win over Cedar Rapids Washington on June 27.

    Brown went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a double and a home run.

    Lanie Meyer, Jr., Liberty

    Lanie Meyer needed just one hit to contribute in an 11-6 road win over Western Dubuque on June 26.

    Meyer drove in three runs against the sixth-ranked team in Class 4A.

    Addie Miller, Jr., Solon

    Addie Miller helped Solon defeat West Delaware, 6-5, on June 24.

    Miller provided a spark on offense, connecting on two hits with two RBIs.

    Lily Nibaur, Fresh., Regina Catholic

    Lily Nibaur played a versatile game during Regina’s 5-3 win over West Liberty on June 24.

    Nibaur went 2-for-2 at the plate, finishing with two RBIs. She also helped the pitching department, earning three strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

    Brynlee Slockett, Sr., Liberty

    Brynlee Slockett turned in a great performance during Liberty's 7-2 win over Dubuque Senior on June 25.

    Slockett went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run. She was also one of two Liberty players to steal a base.

    Boys

    Connor Nicpon, Jr., Regina Catholic

    Connor Nicpon found success while at-bat during Regina’s 5-2 win over Solon on June 26.

    Nicpon went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and he scored one run.

    Kaden Phan, Jr., Clear Creek Amana

    Kaden Phan contributed to CCA’s scoring in a 10-0 shutout over Williamsburg on June 24.

    Phan racked up three RBIs while going 2-for-4 at the plate.

    Nolan Seagren, Jr., Solon

    Nolan Seagren had a strong outing during Solon's crosstown win over Clear Creek Amana on June 27.

    Seagren racked up three RBIs and two hits to lead the Spartans to a 10-2 victory over the Clippers.

    Max Waldschmidt, Sr., Iowa City High

    After dropping the first game of a doubleheader, Iowa City High countered with a 10-0 shutout over Liberty with the help of Max Waldschmidt.

    Waldschmidt drove in four runs with one hit.

    Mason Waterbury, Jr., Liberty

    Mason Waterbury controlled the mound during Liberty’s 5-0 shutout over Iowa City High on June 24.

    Liberty’s ace went all seven innings and struck out seven batters, allowing just one hit.
