The Iowa Hawkeyes lost a huge piece of the puzzle when Caitlin Clark decided to skip her final year of college eligibility and enter the 2024 WNBA draft.

Despite Clark's decision, Iowa managed to land a significant transfer that could help them stay competitive next season: Lucy Olsen.

On Friday night, Olsen competed in the 3x3 Showdown at the WNBA All-Star Weekend. She went up against the Team USA 3x3 squad featuring Los Angeles Sparks All-Star Dearica Hamby.

Prior to the event starting, Olsen was introduced to the 3x3 Nations League team with Clark in attendance at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

After being announced, Clark snapped a photo and posted it on her Instagram story with a brief message to Olsen.

    "Go hawks," Clark said.

Olsen opted to transfer to the Hawkeyes after three seasons with the Villanova Wildcats. She will bring a notable amount of scoring back to an Iowa team that lost the nation's top scorer from the 2023–24 season in Clark.

In 2023–24, Olsen ranked third in all of women's college basketball in scoring, averaging 23.3 points compared to Clark's 31.6.

Olsen led Villanova to a 22-13 record in 2023-24, good for third place in the Big East. However, the Wildcats failed to make the NCAA Tournament.
