    Texas 9-month-old baby dead after being left ‘strapped’ into hot car for 8 hours by grandmother

    A Texas child has died after being left in a hot car by their grandmother for a total of eight hours .

    The 9-month-old baby was found unresponsive in the vehicle around 4 p.m. Wednesday in Beeville, Texas . Police are investigating the incident as a heat-related death, according to ABC News.

    The Beeville Police Department said in a statement: “Beeville police detectives are currently on the scene of what appears to be a temperature-related death of a 9-month-old child.

    “A preliminary investigation has determined that the child’s grandmother had left the child in the rear seat of her car in the child safety seat since approximately 8:30 this morning. The child was found at approximately 4pm non-responsive by the grandmother.”

    The child was left in the car for nearly eight hours. They were strapped into the child safety seat.

    The authorities said: ““The incident is being worked as a criminal homicide. The Beeville police are being assisted by the Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers.

    “No charges have been filed in connection to this case at this time, but such charges are expected to be filed.”

    On Tuesday, a 22-month-old child was found dead in a car in another possible heat-related incident in Corpus Christi. In 2024, there were at least 25 cases of children dying in hot cars, according to Kid and Car Safety.
