New SD program trains communities to be cardiac-ready
IROQUOIS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Only 51-percent of Americans feel they’d be able to perform C-P-R manually in an emergency, according to a new survey. For those experiencing a cardiac emergency, chances of survival drop 10-percent for every minute that passes. Those minutes add up in rural communities, where emergency services take longer. That’s why Daphne Moeller, who works at the school in Iroquois–population 300–got her town involved in South Dakota Department of Health’s Cardiac Ready Communities program, which helps educate and equip communities to respond.
FDA, CDC investigate illnesses associated with store-bought hallucinogenic candies
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Diamond Shruumz is a company producing hallucinogenic candies intended as legal alternatives to magic mushrooms. Though these candies do not contain psilocybin, they do contain muscimol - a psychoactive chemical found in amanita muscaria mushrooms. These mushrooms are toxic, and careful procedures are required to extract the psychedelic chemical.
Scattered Showers and Storms for the Weekend, Drying Out Next Week
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Overnight, temperatures will likely fall into the 50s and a few spots in the 40s for low temperatures. mostly clear skies settle in, but we do have the possibility of some isolated showers after midnight. Tomorrow, some scattered showers will form and we could see a few containing some rumbles of thunder. High temperatures in Rapid City getting up to around 79°. Future cast is showing that we do have the chance for some isolated showers tonight that become scattered tomorrow. But our best day for showers and storms comes on Sunday. Good news is by Monday. We start to completely dry out across all of western South Dakota. Throughout the overnight hours, temperatures drop into the 40s and 50s and we do see mostly clear skies. We still can’t rule out the possibility of a few isolated showers or storms. Tomorrow, temperatures make it into the 70s and 80s across kota territory. We will see scattered showers start to form around lunchtime, but the storms could contain a few rumbles of thunder here and there. The next three days in Northeast Wyoming and the northern Hills shows that we are going to see drier conditions in Wyoming, but some more chances in the hills for some showers and storms. Rapid City through the weekend Seese shower and storm chances continue but by Monday, those chances decrease to zero. For next week, the drier conditions allow for the temperatures to quickly increase into the upper 80s by Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday 90s are looking likely for Rapid City.
