Georgian Bay Giants Claim Dunkirk Fastpitch Softball Title
The Georgian Bay Giants emerged as the champions of the City of Dunkirk's 49th Annual First Ward Falcon Club Tournament that was held July 19-21. The Giants defeated the Niagara Snappers 3-1 in the title game, ending the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record while allowing just three runs. Andres Gonzo was the winning pitcher in the title game, while Aiden Yarde's 7-for-10 performance with three home runs on the second day of the tournament helped him win round robin MVP honors. Third place went to Dunkirk Fastpitch and Weavers of Rochester. Dunkirk Lakeside also made playoffs on the final day.
Assistant District Attorney arrested for alleged official misconduct
In a joint investigation between the Buffalo Police Department and Erie County Sheriff’s Office, an arrest was made of an Assistant District Attorney on Wednesday for alleged official misconduct while being assigned to City Court. More from WBEN:
Fredonia Duo Charged in Stockton Burglary Probe
Two Fredonia men have been charged after an investigation into a burglary in progress Thursday afternoon in the Town of Stockton. Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office investigators were notified about the incident on Moon Road at about 12:30 PM. A Sheriff's Office K-9 unit arrived on scene and located two people stealing property. The suspects, 43-year-old Derek Saxton and 51-year-old Donald Tolbert, were both taken into custody and charged with 3rd-degree burglary and 4th-degree grand larceny. Saxton and Tolbert were both arraigned at the Chautauqua County Jail's centralized arraignment.

Wind farm project to revolutionize Long Island’s energy
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced Wednesday, July 17, the start of construction on Sunrise Wind, an offshore wind farm about 30 miles off the coast of Montauk. The project is spearheaded by Ørsted, a global leader in renewable energy.
