Duck’s Diner Opens Second Location In Former Hazel’s Nook Location
The owners of Duck’s Diner in Orange Beach have opened a second location in the former Hazel’s Nook, a Gulf Shores breakfast spot that recently closed after 67 years, AL.com reports. Duck’s Diner—which, like Hazel’s, is open for breakfast and lunch only—began in 2003 in Orange Beach. Duck’s Diner co-owner Garrett Spence’s mother, Michelle Deerman, bought the business in 2014. Spence joined her as a co-owner a few months later. Unlike Hazel’s, Duck’s Diner won’t have a breakfast buffet and will sell alcohol. A 16-ft bar will replace the buffet area. The Duck’s Diner breakfast menu, which is available all day, includes omelets, pancakes, country ham, steak and eggs, corned beef hash and a breakfast burrito, as well as the restaurant’s signature banana-stuffed French toast with butter pecan sauce. The lunch menu features burgers, po’ boys, wraps, chicken tenders, a ribeye steak and a Rueben sandwich, along with another Duck’s Diner specialty, Gouda cheese grit cakes topped with grilled shrimp, grilled tomatoes and a Creole sauce. Spence will own the building, and he and his mother will co-own the restaurant at 120 East Fort Morgan Rd. in Gulf Shores.
